ServiceLink Status
The original ServiceLink project achieved its technical goals of finding a better method for storing and sharing documents. However, it failed in the larger goal to create a sustainable system for head start programs and other community organizations. In the original ServiceLink project we were unable to provide the ongoing support necessary for the staff of community organizations to use this technology on a daily basis.
Since the conclusion of the original ServiceLink project in 2006, we have since formed the UnaMesa Association to fill this support gap. In particular:
- UnaMesa operates SharedRecords as a web service accessible to all community organizations
- UnaMesa provides free software tools to help organizations integrate these capabilities into their existing systems
- UnaMesa supports community sites where people can help each other learn and implement best practices
ServiceLink in clinics
As a Mar 2008 the ServiceLink2 project, a joint effort between Ricoh Innovations, Savvy Clinic, and Dimagi, is deploying an updated version of the ServiceLink tools to a physical therapy clinic in the Bay Area. The lessons from that project will be used to set expectations for the type of gains that others can expect and to develop a curriculum to help others learn how they can adopt these tools for own purposes.
